In order to correctly identify a user, an e-mail address is required. Failure to provide such information might affect usage of the website, such as reset of password cannot be done. Also, providing an e-mail address is required to link login information coming from different third-party websites, such as Facebook and Google.

In addition to the identification of the Data Subject. the e-mail is required to communicate with the Data Subject. In order to send such communications, the e-mail address might be temporarily transferred to a third-party service (e.g. SendGrid) to manage the sending of e-mails.
